Lemon Saves Apple!
Lemons can keep cut apples fresh
What to do:
Cut an apple in 4 parts. Squeeze lemon juice on 2 of them. Let all the apple pieces stand for several hours.
The pieces of apple that were not treated with lemon turn brown. The apple pieces that were doctored with lemon juice do not.
When exposed to air, certain chemicals in the apple react by destroying cells, which turn brown. But, the Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) in the lemon slows down the reaction between the chemicals in the fruit and the oxygen in the air. This preserves the color and taste of the apple.
Be careful not to get the lemon juice or vinegar in your eyes, it will burn
